Mary of Nazareth Catholic welcomes volunteers into the school to help with various activities. To ensure the safety of our students, NO ONE will be allowed to volunteer with out the proper clearances. There will be NO EXCEPTIONS to this rule. Once you have obtained your clearances we would be grateful for your help.
How to Obtain Volunteer Clearances:
You may obtain your volunteer clearances through the diocesan website below:
Diocese of Pittsburgh School Volunteer Compliance
1. Diocesan Online Database
All adults who have regular contact with minors are to complete the Virtus ®Online Safe Environment database.
Go to the website Virtus ®Online Safe Environment database. The access code is the word "protect". Create your username and password. Fill out all the required fields and submit your registration.
2. PA Criminal Record Check
Required for all volunteers, ages 18 and above, who work in ministry with children or teens. Must be renewed every FIVE years.
3. PA Child Abuse History Clearance
PA Child Abuse History Clearance - Required for all volunteers, age 18 and above, who work in ministry with children. Must be renewed every FIVE years.
4. Protecting God's Children
The "Protecting God's Children" workshop is required for all adults, age 18 and up, who wish to volunteer in ministry with children. It is an excellent program that truly equips adults to create safer environments for children. Once you have completed the course, you will receive a cerificate of completion. Please print the certificate and bring it to the school office.
5. Mandated and Permissive Reporting Training Course
Once you have completed the Recognizing and Reporting Child Abuse: Mandated and Permissive Reporting Online Training, you will receive a certificate of completion. Please print the certificate and bring it to the school office.
6. Required Forms/Acknowledgements

Click the link to "Safe Environments for Children"; read the booklet, print the last page (24), sign and return to school office.
