Religion - Our focus is a study of the Old Testament tracing our faith formation from Abraham.
Reading - An introduction to the genres of literature. Students will read for comprehension.
English - Concentration on grammar and learning how to use the parts of speech correctly
Spelling - In addition to spelling twenty words a week, students will know the definition of challenge words.
Science - Earth science focusing on basic structure of the planet Earth (strata, core composition, tectonics, weather and environment).
Technology - Build upon skill levels in keyboarding, Microsoft office applications, and computer history learned in previous years.
Music- Learn basic musical notation, how to read and follow manuscript, sing in harmony within a group, liturgical music.
Composition - Students will be introduced to the 6 writing traits and various writing techniques. Students will have homework and in class assignments. Students will be able to use Criterion writing software to help them revise and edit their writing. The Criterion technology allows the students to have immediate feedback on their writing. This allows them to revise and edit their work while the ideas are fresh in their mind. Student's composition grade is part of their English grade.
Mathematics - The sixth grade math course incorporates basic Algebra skills with geometric concepts. Students continue to work with fractions and decimal numbers as well as begin to review types of numbers and strategies for solving simple equations

Reading - Students will read and analyze various pieces of literature from different genres.

Mathematics - Seventh grade students enroll in the Pre-Algebra course to help prepare them for concepts that will be applied in the following year's Algebra course. Concepts for discussion and review include: understanding different types of numbers, working with fractions, solving and graphing equations, developing basic geometry skills, and converting among different types of numbers.
Religion - Students will continue to develop their ideas of Christianity and Catholicism through class discussions and activities as well as reading and interpreting Biblical passages. Students will prepare for Confirmation as well, but will receive their Sacrament of Confirmation at their home parish unless given pastor permission to do otherwise. Furthermore, students will be encouraged to develop ideas of how to incorporate Christian ideals into their own lives.
English - Students will review parts of speech and learn about verbals. They will also write the following pieces: a narrative, a persuasive expository, and a descriptive essay.
Science - Life science focusing on cells, heredity, and classification of scientific genus.
Technology - Build upon skill levels in keyboarding, Microsoft office applications, and computer history learned in previous years.
Music- Learn basic musical notation, how to read and follow manuscript, sing in harmony within a group, liturgical music.
Literature and Spelling - Students will develop language arts skills by reading assigned and individual reading selections. Comprehension skills will be reinforced through the using of questioning techniques, writing activities, and class discussions. Students will also work on improving reading skills by enhancing vocabulary comprehension. Moreover, students will also be assessed on spelling and vocabulary skills throughout the course.
Research - Students will learn basic research skills using technology and traditional research tools. The student will build on their basic six traits of writing skills from Composition class. They will add research skills including: looking for creditable sources of information, how to take notes for a research paper, using footnotes and endnotes, and writing a bibliography. Student research projects include: science fair project topics, Saint research for their Confirmation Saint report in religion class, "How Stuff Works project,and a research topic of their choice. Student's research grade is part of their English grade.
Mathematics - Students in eighth grade will be taking the Algebra Course taught in ninth grade at most area high schools. Throughout the year we will review concepts such as converting numbers, understanding and solving various types of equations and inequalities, solving proportions, and graphing equations and inequalities
